Soldier, Man

This one kind of came as a result of general frustration with just a whole bunch of things. It was a gorgeous October "Indian Summer" day, and I got to sit out on the porch and relax..

He gets up and goes to work every day
he doesn't know any other way
This is what they taught him to think
and what they taught him to say

He gets out and gets nowhere each day
he can't find a better way
because this is what they think
and what they think he should pay.

Heyyyyyyyyyyy yaaaaa
(yeah yeah yeah!)
He's a great soldier, man.

Heyyyyyyyyyyy yaaaaa
(yeah yeah yeah!)

He can't find an easy way out
So they feed his fear and doubt
And let him go borrow against
the only thing he knew about

So the soldier sees a shut door
and signs up for an extended tour
hoping for a little at the end
from whatever he was fighting for

Heyyyyyyyyyyy yaaaaa
(yeah yeah yeah!)
He's a great soldier, man.

Heyyyyyyyyyyy yaaaaa
(yeah yeah yeah!)

You get up and go to work every day
you don't know any other way
This is what they taught you to think
and what they taught you to say

You get out and get nowhere each day
you hope to find a better way
because this is what they think
and what they think you should pay.

Heyyyyyyyyyyy yaaaaa
(yeah yeah yeah!)
You'll be a great soldier, man!

Heyyyyyyyyyyy yaaaaa
(yeah yeah yeah!)
You'll be a great soldier, man!

You'll be a great soldier, man!
Get away as fast as you can....
