Our Beer/Mead Information and Labels

Cranberry Maple Christmas Ale - very good! This spiced ale was brewed with cranberries, maple syrup, ginger, and other spices. It's a very complex and flavorful holiday beer. Brewed in Fall 2002, there's very little of this left.

Honey Porter - I like the beer, AND the label. The description for the recipe was "malty, sweet, creamy, and smooth" and it couldn't be more accurate. Quite literally one of the best sweet porters I've had. Also brewed in Fall 2002, there's only a few bottles left of this classic.

LEMON ORANGE GINGER MEAD
Brewed October 2002. Still being aged. Check back in a couple months. UPDATE: It's improved tremendously, but still needs more time. The flavors have started to mingle nicely. I think it'll take another couple of years before it hits its stride. Still a bit much on the alcohol-tasting side. Most of what was brewed is still in bottle.

VANILLA CREAM ALE
The Vanilla Cream Ale was decent, but tasted too much like cream soda for my liking. I wouldn't brew it again personally. UPDATE: After allowing the Vanilla Cream Ale to sit around, it tasted amazingly better. A total turnaround. Now, its a smooth light somewhat sweet ale. But, also, now it's gone.

CHOCOLATE CREAM STOUT
A smooth, sweet, malty, creamy stout porter. One of the better stouts I've had, this recipe used plenty of chocolate malt (no, not really chocolate). Delicious. There's a handful of bottles remaining of this one. Brewed Spring/Summer 2003.

OATMEAL STOUT
Similar in style to the Chocolate Cream stout, but with the sweetness of the Oatmeal. Very similar to the Sam Smith's that we've grown to love. A+! UPDATE: This was brewed again in November 2003. There's a good amount of this lying around, mostly from the newer batch.

BELGIAN CHERRY WITBIER
This one came out a little different than I expected. It certainly had the sour cherry notes that I expected, and not a lot of it (it blended very well), so that was good. The bad part was that it was much hoppier than I wanted - it is almost like a Cherry Wheat Pale Ale rather than a Witbier. Oh well. There's about a case or two left of this one. It's not really a bad beer, overall, especially if you enjoy Pale Ales.

HOLIDAY CHEER
Another take on the spiced winter ale style. Needs more time in the bottle, really. It's been improving quite a bit, with the flavors meshing. A nice medium coloured ale with hints of orange zest and cinnamon. Brewed in November 2003. There's plenty of this one available.

CELEBRATION ALE
A hop-forward ale brewed with an above average alcohol content. Tasty, but a little off since we didn't call ahead for the appropriate yeast. The supply of this one is dwindling fast.

WINTER PORTER
What can you say about a perfect porter? No adjuncts to confuse the issue, just a good, dark, solid, delicious porter. We've had a great run with the porter style, both traditional and flavored, and stouts. Winter Porter was also brewed in November 2003, and there's a good amount of it available.

"ON TAP"
Sorry - couldn't resist. Nothing in the fermenter right now. Watch this space, though.

We brew our stuff at The Brewer's Apprentice in Freehold, NJ.
